Andrei Kapytau
Forward Deployed Engineer
- Lead / Principal Full-Stack Engineer
- C#/.NET, React, TypeScript, Cloud, AI/LLM
- London, UK
Overview
Forward-deployed engineer, embedded inside customer organisations alongside their engineers, analysts and executives, turning ambiguous problems into production systems. Starts from why a business needs something rather than what it has asked for, reframing requests into simpler, better-targeted solutions. Full-stack across C#/.NET Core and React/Angular/TypeScript, owning solution architecture, distributed systems, cloud delivery and performance engineering, and leading teams of up to nine engineers across two concurrent engagements. Delivered for Bank of America, Charles Schwab and the European Investment Bank, with three consecutive AFTAs Best IT Team awards at Schwab. Independently ships and operates his own products: mobile games on iOS and Android, a cross-platform study app spanning mobile, desktop and web, a paid SaaS and LLM-powered systems in production.

Experience
-
CompatibL
Lead Software Engineer / Team Lead
- Embedded full-time in customer environments on long-running engagements for Bank of America, Charles Schwab, the European Investment Bank and other Tier-1 institutions — owning architecture, design, implementation, cloud deployment and production support inside the client’s own systems, including on-call incident response and root-cause analysis against agreed SLAs.
- Led cross-functional teams of up to nine engineers across two concurrent client engagements, partnering with Bank of America’s architecture team to define solution architecture and guide technical decision-making.
- Drove the launch of new financial management software that generated 20% revenue growth within one year; established CI/CD pipelines, TDD and code-review standards and a controlled release strategy that were reused across client environments, lifting release velocity by over 30% while raising code coverage and cutting QA-reported defects; mentored 4+ engineers.
Selected client engagements
-
Curve, Volatility & Bond Marking Platform — Bank of America
(Lead Developer) — Developed a generic React and OpenFin UI to replace manual Excel tools and inconsistent legacy libraries across multiple trading desks. Built frontend microservices over a Python pricing backend. Migrated system in backward compatible increments, decreasing UI latency 20x and pricing latency from 500ms to 35ms.
-
Expense & Vendor Management Platforms — Charles Schwab
(Team Lead) — End-to-end cloud expense system (invoicing, contractual fees and OERs, budgeting, forecasting and regulatory reporting) plus a vendor oversight platform. Asked for a daily exception report, established the real need was catching exceptions before payment ran and delivered automated monitoring instead, removing the manual review. Delivered the bank’s first multi-cloud system. AFTAs Best IT Team 2017, 2018 and 2019.
-
CompatibL Risk Platform
(Team Lead) — Cloud-based trading and risk platform for market and counterparty credit risk, initial margin and regulatory capital. Led development of a product used by multiple banks and ran the security analysis for its cloud migration. Winner, Risk.net Market Technology Awards — XVA Calculation Product of the Year.
-
CDS & Bond Trading Platform — Bank of America
(Lead Developer) — Client-server desktop platform for credit traders: securities pricing, Runs distribution, intraday risk management, P&L estimation, TRACE monitoring and trade-history search across bonds and credit default swaps. The bank’s strategic credit trading automation solution, used by 400+ users globally; integrated AMPS real-time messaging.
-
EibRiskALM — European Investment Bank
(Team Lead) — Client scoped a bespoke monitoring application; establishing what they actually needed to see showed the existing CompatibL Platform could deliver it through configuration and a thin extension, avoiding a new codebase — giving the Credit Risk team market trigger and alert monitoring across legacy credit products.
-
EPAM Systems
Senior Software Engineer
- BCS (FX300, GAOD, FxReval) — Raiffeisen Bank: FX and revaluation modules for a platform simplifying transactions over SWIFT; feature development, maintenance and code review in C#/.NET.
